Prior to undertaking any web design project, as with all projects at OPMCG, we do our homework. Preliminary planning is critical in website design and development. Getting it right the first time makes any project cost efficient and effective.

The first step in building a successful website is to define the “stakeholder” – the owner of the site – the individual who provides ultimate approval and the team and their project roles. We then define the project scope: objectives and goals, budget, and timing. We analyze the competition. Design the site structure  – primary and secondary navigation with meaningful labels. Organize the content. Establish the web design processes. Conduct usability testing. Complete the production of the site. Conduct additional testing before launching the site to the public. And finally, we select appropriate analytics, creating benchmarks in order to measure performance.

We create the project blue print. We build the foundation. We manage the lifecycle. We scrutinize every last detail because your website is one of your most important marketing vehicles.

SEO
What’s the point of having a great looking website if your prospects can not find you? SEO with Harris Advertising makes your site highly visible. It opens the door to anyone and everyone looking for your products and/or services. The old adage in real estate is location, location, location. The same principle applies to SEO. Harris Advertising will relocate your business to the premier corner of commercial high-traffic. No more anonymity. Stand up. Be seen. Be heard.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), also known as organic search, helps your prospects find your website when they are searching for your services or products. Effective SEO will improve rankings, boost web traffic, and improve your Marketing Return On Investment.

Your website should be designed (or redesigned) knowing in advance which keywords and keyword phrases that your prospects use while performing searches on Google, Yahoo and Bing. First page rankings are critical to business success. How often have you done a search and looked beyond page one for answers?

John Harris, Harris Advertising’s President/CEO says, “I’ve been studying and practicing SEO for almost a decade now and while a lot of agencies, SEO firms, and consultants will tell you they ‘know the secret’, and I’ve heard it all, I’ll tell you that there are no secrets, no magic bullets – just best practices.”

As a matter of fact, Google even tells you what they want you to do in order to gain top search recognition:

http://static.googleusercontent.com/external_content/untrusted_dlcp/www.google.com/en/us/webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

Google states:

“Welcome to Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide. This document first began as an effort to help teams within Google, but we thought it’d be just as useful to webmasters that are new to the topic of search engine optimization and wish to improve their sites’ interaction with both users and search engines. Although this guide won’t tell you any secrets that’ll automatically rank your site first for queries in Google (sorry!), following the best practices outlined below will make it easier for search engines to both crawl and index your content.”

If you are looking for fast and cheap – forget it. SEO takes time. Remember, cheap is expensive. If your SEO is not performed correctly you can suffer long-term ramifications. No one wants to be penalized by Google. No one wants to get banned or de-indexed by Google. Take note, avoid tempting but ignorant SEO  black hat techniques such as: keyword stuffing, mass link purchases all with the same anchor text, link farms, doorway pages, hidden text, duplicate content, cloaking, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Simply put, when it comes to organic search, there is a right way and there is a wrong way. Case in point – in 2006 Google dropped the German BWM site – bmw.de – from their index, the sites PageRank dropped to zero, as in goose egg, and their top keywords could no longer be found at the top of the SERPS – all as a result of BMW using doorway pages.

Successful SEO begins and ends with content, relevant content, current content and a sound linking strategy. Harris Advertising will position your site, to be, in the eyes of Google, the foremost authoritative representation of your subject matter on the web. In addition, we will make your site: accessible. Google now factors the accessibility, the ease of navigation, of your site to those with and without disabilities.

SEO, to some, to most, can be frankly overwhelming, confusing and appear complicated. This is where Harris Ad enters. It is our objective to simplify the mish-mash that’s out there – all the crazy algorithms you hear about, white hat, black hat, spiders, crawlers, back links, internal links, reciprocating links, link farms, meta tags, alt tags, heading tags, 301 redirects, key words, key word phrases, long tail key words, URL structure, canonical URL, HTML sitemaps, XML sitemaps, breadcrumb navigation, bounce rates, average time on site, pages visited, unique visitors, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. We’ll break it down to bear bones; layout the necessary process and procedure needed to achieve efficient and effective SEO.

In conclusion, Wikipedia defines Search engine optimization (SEO) as: the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site or a web page (such as a blog) from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) which may deal with paid inclusion. The theory is that the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine.

Local Search Marketing
If you have a local or regional business, a true bricks and mortar business, you need to target your local prospects using Harris Advertising’s Local Search. If you are a Philadelphia based company selling products and/or services to the local market then generating leads from Indiana or India is pointless. We increase traffic with local prospects. Leads are great but if a lead is not actually convertible to a sale then the leads are nothing more than a paper tiger. Remember, local prospects are searching for you. Let us help you to help them find you.

Please fill out our “Contact Us Today” form found over on the left and we will be happy to discuss your Local Search needs. Or, of course, you can call us at: 215-836-0401.

Local searchers are committed to making a purchase or at the very least they are shopping. The local search market continues to grow. The numbers are staggering. Sad but true, the yellow pages are dead, made obsolete by the web and local search. John Harris states, “It was not that many years ago, maybe 10 years ago, that a substantial portion of a local business’ marketing budget was committed to the yellow pages. Those days are gone – dead as the dinosaurs. Ask yourself – when was the last time you went riffling through the yellow pages in order to find the phone number or address of a restaurant, or any business for that matter. The Internet has made searching simple. I don’t know anyone today who even receives the yellow pages – we live in a green world.” Today, people search for what they want and need using search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

It is important to note, that with any media, a swift, precise plan is critical. You are in a race against your competition. First to market wins. At Harris Advertising, we make sure that your site is listed and ranked highly in order to successfully target your local and regional audience.

Social Media
Social media is a rapidly growing yet challenging way to reach new customers. Harris Ad will craft effective, meaningful social media strategies based upon a simple principle: Two-way conversations encourage prospects and customers to engage with your brand.

Harris Advertising will create an engagement, monitoring and promotional strategy to more effectively connect with your audience.

Understanding how to leverage your company’s social media presence requires understanding the medium, the audience and the opportunity. Rather than viewing social media as a push medium, Harris Ad will help you create a strategy to build an authentic voice for your brand. Harris Ad’s strategy focuses on adapting to the latest trends in the social media space by implementing a complete social media marketing strategy and integrating it into your overall marketing communications strategy. Harris Ad will assess your needs, market opportunities and tactics to deliver a successful plan.

Beginning with a competitive assessment, Harris Ad will identify a baseline market and opportunity assessment. The goal of our measurement strategy is to understand how your competitors, your own social properties and your campaigns are performing. As data-driven marketers, we want to focus on what works through analyzing your traffic, results, conversations and results from social media. Harris Ad also offers full social media monitoring so you can listen to how influencers are talking about your brand on social sites, blogs and throughout the web.

Harris Advertising begins by reviewing your existing social channels to identify opportunities to improve and grow your presence. Combined with a competitive analysis of blogs, communities and link profiles, Harris Advertising will produce a complete strategy including timeline, budget, and campaigns and tactics to help your company win in the social space. Ongoing monitoring and analytics will help to fully comprehend your market opportunity.

Understanding the full experience of social media goes beyond the basics, and encompasses creative direction through video and graphics, mobile implementation through apps and accessibility as well as a technical link to your website and business. Harris Ad will create a full social media strategy that builds a brand experience through social profiles, on site blogs and a larger assessment of your brand position.

Harris Advertising will develop custom profiles for the top 35 (or more) social networking sites which can reach your customers. From Facebook to Twitter and beyond, our team will help you take ownership and successfully develop your social profiles. We will also create a professional blog strategy which is an extension of your social efforts, optimizing the content strategy, design and two-way engagement to drive search traffic, awareness and engagement with your brand on-site.
